ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME - DAY or NIGHT KNOW THE DIRECTION AND VELOCITY OF THE WIND
BDS Systems first started manufacturing lighted windsocks in the spring of 2002 and used the Carmanah Model 201 to illuminate the windsock. The Carmanch 201 was a self-contained solar powered light assembly. This unit, the BDS Model 718L, had 17 LED's and had an amber lens.
In the spring of 2004, we redesigned the light assembly that illuminated the windsock. The new light manufacturer that we selected provided a bright white LED light assembly with more LED's. The white LED's gave our unit a brighter illuminated windsock. This unit required a separate solar panel with controls. This was the BDS Model 720, and the light assembly had 44 bright white LED's.
As improvements in LED technology advanced and newer and brighter light assemblies became available, we found ways to incorporate these assemblies into our lighted windsocks. The BDS Model 735LWF, with 71 bright white LED's, became available in December 2005.
Soon we will be able to offer a unit with 120 bright white LED's. This Model, the BDS735LWF (7W), is special order and may require a larger wattage solar panel and battery pack. Long days of sun light hitting the solar panel is important for charging the battery. The installation location will determine the size of the solar panel and battery. This is not a factor when we supply our AC Control Unit for lighting the windsock. Consult factory.
